SOUTH WESTERN MELBOURNE

Mental Health

One in four Australians experience mental health issues.

Mental health can be described as feeling down or anxious to showing symptoms of more extreme behaviours.

Mental health can also relate to feeling depressed after the birth of a baby or where a child may be showing signs of distress that causes dysfunction/disruption in their daily lives.

Many young people experience times of depression and anxiety and headspace has been established to offer services to people in our community aged 12 -25.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, if you can’t stop worrying or feel as though you are not coping with day to day living, or withdrawing from your friends and social activities there are professionals and programs available to help. Contact your GP or Allied Health Professional about the programs available. There are also support programs available for those on low income and disadvantaged groups in our community. For more information contact your GP.
